The Seychelle radiological pitcher replacement filter 1-40400-W removes the four basic zones of contamination: Aesthetic (Chlorine, taste and odor), Chemicals (from Industry and Agriculture), Dissolved Solids (heavy metals such as lead, mercury, Chromium 6) and 100% of Radiological Contaminants such as Gross Beta, Radon 222, Radium 226, Plutonium, Uranium, Cesium 137 and Radioactive Iodine 131. The filter is designed with a hard shell that is formed to exact or 2 micron absolute porosity.
The filter is impregnated with various proprietary media that have the ability to remove, absorb, adsorb, chemically bond and chelate different contaminants as they pass through the tortuous path designed in the filter. The basic media in the filter is a proprietary powder activated coconut carbon that has a surface phenomenon that causes a molecular attraction of substances to the surface of the filter.
The rate or volume of adsorption or removal of toxic chemicals, radioactive contaminates and heavy metals is caused by the specific volume of medias used, their quality, and the flow rate of water passing through the filter. Filtering capacity is 150 gallons

We have a second home with tap well water which looks, tastes and smells as you'd expect. The Seychelle filter does the heavy lifting or filtering for about 3 months before slowing down the filtering process. We know its time to replace whereas any other pitcher water filters pass a lot of stuff right through to the consumer for any length of time you want - yuck! Seychelle works!
I had to use this alternative forcghe RAD Pitcher and it works fine. However, I was not expecting to pay more but, it is worth having clean drinking water.
I have been purchasing these filters for years and am very happy with them. Delivery is quick.
I live in agricultural country and my water supply is from a well, tho a water utility now governs its quality.. As the farms are nearby, filtering my water with Seychelle filters is the best solution for me to make sure as many contaminants are removed as possible. It also improves the taste (or lack thereof) of the water. I find the filters last a long time so pricewise they are cost efficient for me. Thanks Seychelle for a great product..
I was curious to touch the three black circles on the top of the filter. I thought they were filled with media. What surprises me is that there are three holes/tubes.
With my index finger, I found out that there were tiny particles around the inside channels of the tubes.
"Filling water to each tube, Using a finger to lose the particles, Refill water, Seal with the red cap, Shaking vigorously", repeat these steps for a couple times. The particles are still there but less. I am so glad that my filter is back to dripping now.
Please have the manufacturer figure out how to stop the particles from tap water to reach the filter i.e. a removable membrane for cleaning.
What's the suggestion for removing particles to the existing filter for customers? pre filter? a woven mesh to screen particles?
I am going to use a Japanese fine mesh strainer to filter the tap water first, then pour the water to the pitcher. Hope this will help to reduce the filter's tube's cleaning.
There is media in the carbon filters that is what filters the radiologicals out. If you have lots of sediment in your water they will plug up sooner you might have to run the water through a sediment filter first..
