My bottle has been sitting for awhile. Can I start using it again with the filter that is in it. How Can I check to be sure it is still good.
Yes you can use it as long as you let the filter dry out before storing. When the bottle is not going to be used for an extended time you should flush it with chlorinated water and let dry before storing. As long as the filter is not moldy or smell moldy you should be fine.

How do you know when the filter is bad
It will get a lot harder to get water through the filter or you will start tasting the bad taste from the water.
