CeraMetix GF filter elements utilize our class-leading ceramic microporous outer shell combined with our AquaMetix® granular core technology.
AquaMetix® is made from the highest quality NSF component certified (ANSI 61) coconut shell based activated carbon and other superior adsorbent materials including B2 (ANSI 61).
The ceramic shell and our AquaMetix granular combines mechanical filtration and physical absorption processes to reduce a wide variety of drinking water contaminants of both aesthetic and health concerned.
The pore structure of the ceramic enables sufficient contact time for AquaMetix® to be ideally suited to improving taste and odor as well as reducing chlorine, chloramine, volatile organic compounds, MTBE, lead, mercury, asbestos, arsenic, and fluoride. The cleanable ceramic shell is designed to remove suspended solids, pathogenic bacteria, and cysts. The CeraMetix® elements have been tested in accordance with NSF protocols for cyst, turbidity, particulates, lead, chloramines and chlorine reduction.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERSAsk a Question
Does this fit a berkey?
I do not think the Black Berkey elements will fit, I think they are too tall.
do these filters simply set in the upper container or are there threads of some sort so there is some type of seal between unfiltered and filtered water? I don't want my unfiltered water seeping into the filtered. We currently use a zero water pitcher in the fridge and are happy with how the water tastes, etc. Would these filters be just as good, or how do they compare? Thanks
The filters go in the top chamber and have washers and a wing nut that seals the filter so it does not let the unfiltered water through. These are way better than the zero pitchers. The zero pitchers are very misleading as they send a TDS meter and tell you that if it reads zero that the water is filtered and that just is not true. they are reading zero because they are filtering out the calcium and other good minerals from the water. A TDS meter is for reverse osmosis systems as they take all the good and bad and you use it to tell when the RO membrane needs to be changed.
A TDS test only inorganic contaminants, which is only one type of contaminant. It does not test for organic contaminants, such as VOC’s, chlorine, chloramines, pesticides or solvents and it does not test for biological contaminants, such as bacteria and parasites.
Inorganic means "material such as sand, salt, iron, calcium salts and other mineral materials. Inorganic substances are of mineral origin.“Stop using the TDS (total dissolved solids) meter as the only measurement of water quality. Disinfection Byproducts like Trihalomethanes, Volatile Organic Compounds, METHYL tertiary-butyl ether, chlorine, chloramines, cysts and lead are the primary contaminants to Public Water Systems. They have no impact on the conductivity of the water. Yet these do not register on a TDS meter. And public water systems primarily supply from surface water that tends to have low TDS levels.
Hello. I had been using the Berkey system but now I'm living in a house where there is a water softener. As a a result, the carbon filters in the Berkey system were becoming clogged. I was advised by the folks at Berkey to pack up the filtration unit while I"m living in a house with a water softener. So my question is, can this filter work effectively with softened water? In the meanwhile, I've purchased Enviro Products 10 stage countertop filter and I"m wondering if it would be advisable to first filter the water through that, and then pour it through this Aquacera filter? Due to the taste and odor of the municipal water, I"m still not really satisfied with how the water smells and tastes after going through the Enviro Products countertop filter, which is why I would pour it through a second system. Thank you!!
Yes, it will work with softened water. You could run it through the 10 stage first but there is no need for it.
Can you use berkey filters in this system?
I think the black Berkey elements are too tall. You will want to use 7-inch elements.
Minerals are important... are they retained or filtered out?
No, the good minerals are left in the water.
How long can i use this system to filter water, and much water for its shef life?
It has a filtering capacity of around 1,800 gallons with 2 filters in it.
My wife and I agree we should have done this sooner. We use to have spring fed water supply at the top of a mountain where we lived for last 20 years. Moving to Florida recently the water not only tastes nasty but who knows what’s in it. We both decided to go through a detox protocol which suggested using a gravity feed filtered water to get maximum results. Well, we love how tea, coffee and plain water tastes so much better.
