Aquacera 9 Inch CeraMetix Gravity Replacement Filter filter elements utilize our class-leading CeraSyl™ DE (diatomaceous earth) ceramic microporous outer shell combined with our AquaMetix® granular core technology.
AquaMetix® is made from the highest quality NSF component certified (ANSI 61) coconut shell based activated carbon and other superior adsorbent materials including B2 (ANSI 61).
The ceramic shell and our AquaMetix® granular combines mechanical filtration and physical absorption processes to reduce a wide variety of drinking water contaminants of both aesthetic and health concerned.
The pore structure of the ceramic enables sufficient contact time for AquaMetix® to be ideally suited to improving taste and odor as well as reducing chlorine, chloramine, volatile organic compounds, MTBE, lead, mercury, asbestos, arsenic, and fluoride.
The cleanable ceramic shell is designed to remove suspended solids, The CeraMetix® elements have been tested by NSF protocols for cyst, turbidity, particulates, lead, chloramines, and chlorine reduction.
Filters also fit most other brands of gravity systems.

The CeraMetix GF filter is manufactured to remove suspended solids, pathogenic bacteria, cysts, organic chemicals and improve taste and odor. The ceramic is silver impregnated to prevent bacteria growth and is self-sterilizing. The ceramic shell is manufactured to balance flow rate and consistent pore size to provide maximum filtration efficiency. The center of the filter contains our AquaMetix granular media to reduce organic chemicals, fluoride, VOC’s, heavy metals and improve the color, taste, and odor of drinking water. This filter element is designed for gravity filter use and other low-pressure applications. These filters are designed for use in AquaCera® Gravity Filter Systems; they will also fit other makes of gravity systems.

How do I clean the filters?
You can take a abrasive brush or pad like the green scotchbrite pads and just rub the filter with it under running water until it looks clean again.

Tes they will. They will fit in most all gravity systems

Are these suppose to sound like they have sand in them?
Yes it is the carbon and media inside the ceramic shell that you are hearing.

How long does it take to filter 1 gallon of water?
It takes a few hours to filter a reservoir with 2 gallons in it.

Do I only need these filters in the top of my Berkey? None in the bottom?
Yes, you only need these ones as they filter fluoride so you do not need the ones that go on the bottom.

Bought two of the 5 inch ceramic candle filters for a homemade water filtration system in our kitchen. The filters were easy to install and so far, for the past few weeks, have been working very well. Our rural town water is somewhat treated, with a lot of chlorine, which gives our water an overwhelming strong chlorine odor and taste. On top of which the water has heavy metals in it that corrodes everything, and makes the water smell like fish when it boils. The filters have got rid of the chlorine smell and taste and no more fishy water smell when heating water. The water tastes great.
I was so pleased with how promptly my order was fulfilled, and also the great care with which my filters were packaged (clean, substantial packing material). For the price, it was honestly a better experience than buying from Aquacera directly.
