How often does the filter need to be replaced with a new filter or can your filter be washed/rinsed for additional usage
It is recommended to replace them every 12 months. You can clean them with an abrasive brush or a green Scotch Brite pad when the water flow slows down.

It might remove some but it really is not designed to remove iron

How can the filter be cleaned?
You will remove the filters from the housing and with a green scotchbrite pad or soft bristle brush under cold ( only ) running water you gently scrub them. Rinse well and reinstall into system
