Description:

The Aquacera Imperial OBE CeraMetix Filter for 10 inch Standard Housings

The CeraMetix® OBE filter cartridge combines our class-leading CeraSyl™ DE (diatomaceous earth) ceramic microporous outer shell with our AquaMetix® core block technology. The ceramic shell and our AquaMetix® block core combine mechanical filtration and physical absorption processes to reduce a wide variety of drinking water contaminants of both aesthetic and health concern.

AquaMetix® is made from the highest quality coconut shell based activated carbon and other superior adsorbent materials. Utilizing a unique compression molding manufacturing process, the base materials are melded into a solid block having a very uniform pore structure that ensures filtration consistency and high performance. The dense pore structure and vast surface area of the compressed carbon and specialty adsorbents are designed to improve taste and odor as well as to reduce chlorine, chloramine, volatile organic compounds, MTBE, lead, mercury, asbestos, arsenic, and fluoride.

The cleanable ceramic shell is designed to remove suspended solids, pathogenic bacteria, and cysts. The CeraMetix® elements have been tested in accordance with NSF protocols for cyst, turbidity, particulates, lead, chloramines, and chlorine reduction (Class 1).

  • This filter says cleanable but should it still be replaced every year?

Yes, you should still replace it yearly.

  • My filter says Imperial Sterasyl and is used to remove bacteria and protozoan cysts while rafting. It is 10 x 2 1/2 on ceramic and 10 x 3 on the outside of the rubber ends. The filter needs to remove nominal pore size of 0.2 microns. Is this filter 3 inches on outside of rubber and remove pore size of 0.2 microns Thanks for your help Dwight

Yes, this one will fit in your system it is actually better than the Imperial Sterasyl as that is just a ceramic shell where this one has that and media inside to filter a wide range of other contaminants.

  • What is the actual dimension of this filter? Also does it help with odors?

This fits into a standard 10' housing. so they are 2.5 X 10 inches. Yes it does filter out odors

  • For one person and average use, how often should this filter be changed?

We recommend 1,000 gallons or yearly, which ever comes first.

  • Do you have a ceramic filter that removes Naefleria fowleri (brain eating amoeba). I live in Louisiana and this has become present in our municipal water.

All of the ceramic filters we offer will filter naegleria fowleri. You can also use a UV Light.

Naegleria fowleri infects people when water containing the ameba enters the body through the nose. Infection is rare and typically occurs when people go swimming or diving in warm freshwater places, like lakes and rivers. Very rarely, infections have been reported when people submerge their heads, cleanse their noses during religious practices, or irrigate their sinuses (nose) using contaminated tap or faucet water.

Just what I needed.

It's difficult to find a water filter that filters bacteria. That's what I needed. This filter does that. I am very happy with my purchase.
